"I appreciate things that are more mainstream than indie" - Yung Jake
Emoji’s have become a predominant method of expressing emotion today, as we have less face to face communication and rely of a platform of images to express our deep emotions. Musician Yung Jake explores how much depth an emoji can hold and how can it be utilised into representing more than what we anticipated. We often wonder, will the receiver understand what we meant by that emoji use or will it be mis-understood, did we over-step, did we need one or two less, or perhaps a different colour… as we question ourselves Yung Jake has presented something with those same utensils that whatever the verdict, this tool of self-reflection has been adapted into developing portraits of people using nothing more than the icons presented and the colours that are available within the emoji’s we all have on our phone.
